Maja Wood

Maja Wood had lived up and down the West Coast, including several towns in Sonoma County (Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Kenwood and Sebastopol) before settling down in Santa Rosa in the year 2000.

Among other interests, Maja is a freelance writer with articles appearing in publications such as the Los Angeles Times , the San Francisco Chronicle , and various weeklies. She began writing, way back when, at her high school newspaper and then went to UCLA where she served as news editor of the Daily Bruin.

Years ago, my then-boyfriend, now my husband, were driving back home to Santa Barbara after living in Seattle for a while. We decided to take a little detour through Sonoma County and get a bite to eat. The sun was low in the sky. The light was just right. The vineyards were whispering. We looked at each other and sighed. Instead of finding a place to eat that evening, we found a place to live.

This area has always held magic for me. I hope I can share that with you.
