As assemblage art, all the different pieces come together to form an aesthetically-pleasing whole. Yet, with Monty's work, each piece also keeps its own identity and contributes to the stories, wordplays, puzzles and little jokes that are the hallmark of his style. For example, consider the "Wine Bottle Truck" pictured here. Look closely and you'll see an open heart. This is because open hearts, and romance, go well with a bottle of wine. The horn is made out of a candle holder, which suggests sounds of romance. The steering wheel is created with a thermostat, because it's headed toward a hot night. And, appropriately, the bed of the truck is made out of a grill.
