Unlike many assemblage artists, Monty (pictured) does not work exclusively with "garbage" and found objects. Instead, he uses "vintage collectibles" -old or antique objects-that he typically finds at swap meets and garage sales. Each piece is then refurbished and combined with other vintage collectibles to form an artwork. Also, the pieces are never welded together or glued. Instead, everything is fastened with hardware.
In this photo, you can see "The Whale" while it was hanging at the Motorola offices at the Next Level Communications Building in Rohnert Park. The piece was later gifted to the new Doyle Library at Santa Rosa Junior College. It's on the fourth floor.
