This year’s theme:"A Call to Conscience...Take a stand for what is right! What will you do?"
Program:
- A film about the Civil Rights Movement will be shown 5 to 6 pm.
- The program in the main auditorium begins at 6 pm, featuring former Sonoma County resident, now Sacramento Fire Chief, Ray Jones as keynote speaker. Invocation will be given by Rev. Ann Gray Byrd
- Performances by:
- Trio Nuevo Amanecer,
- The Celebration Mass Choir,
- Ballroom Dancers,
- ’DNA’ Hip-Hop,
- Kaysha & Kyra Duncan
- There will be oratories in the spirit of Dr. King, given by middle school and high school students. Awards will be presented for the speeches and for the children’s art contest.
- There is also special parallel Children's Program conducted in a separate room, for ages 4-9.
- Children's artwork reflecting Dr. King's values will be displayed in the lobby.
- Birthday cake and fellowship at the end of program.
- It's a family affair, admission is FREE - everyone welcome.
A related Sonoma County MLK event is the:
“A Day ON, Not a Day Off” Community Awareness day encouraging people to use their day off work to participate in the community. The focus is on Health and Well Being.
