Christmas at the Mission

December 6, 2008

Located at the Mission San Francisco Solano, Sonoma State Historic Park;
at the corner of East First Street and Spain Street in the city of Sonoma. See Map.

Admission is free but you must have a ticket. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Mission; limit of four per family. Due to the popularity of this event, it is recommended that you pick up tickets as early as possible. Those without tickets may visit the Mission courtyard to enjoy hot cider and cookies.

This is a unique opportunity to visit the Mission at night. The program includes Christmas carols and readings from the Scriptures, followed by refreshments served by volunteers in period attire.

Since some of the event is held outside, you should dress for cool nighttime temperatures. Also, be prepared to stand for extended periods of time.

You’re also invited to donate canned or packaged foods for the Friends In Sonoma Helping (F.I.S.H.). Donations may be left the night of the event, or at the Sonoma Mission, Barracks or Vallejo Home.

The “Christmas at the Mission” event began in 1986. The Sonoma Valley Ministerial Association coordinates the program in the Mission Chapel and the event is sponsored by California State Parks and the Sonoma-Petaluma State Historic Park Association.
