The World Championship Grape Stomp is held, each year, at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair. The hilarious and irreverent MC for the event, Jane Engdahl, said that someone once asked her what gives this event the right to bill itself as the world championship. To which Engdahl reasonably replied, "Well, we said this is the world championships and no one ever said we weren't."

Pictured above, right, is the perpetual trophy, on which all the past winners names have been engraved. And this year's lucky winners will soon have the honor of joining the list. To the left, are the trophies the winners can proudly take home. The trophies Engdahl received from the supplier were good, but not quite right, she explained. So, she took out her glue gun, headed over to Michaels Crafts, bought a couple of big bunches of plastic grapes, and glued them atop the awards.

"Now THIS is a trophy," Engdahl said, raising it up to the cheering crowd. "Once this is placed on the mantelpiece, you'll never have to vacuum again. Because, if you walk into a room and see something like this, you won't notice anything else."
