"Martin Family Vineyards is basically a passionate hobby that's gotten a bit out of hand .sort of like starting out collecting baseball cards and then one day realizing you own a major league ball team," said Jim Morris, vineyard manager.
Mike Martin, the owner and winemaker at Martin Family Vineyards, started out making wines for family and friends. "But, with some encouragement - and because they wanted free wine," Morris added with a laugh, "his friends and family talked him into making more than just a few cases of wine. We now produce 4000 cases a year and it is a full time business. And Mike is still a full time dentist!"
The vineyard is known for big, robust red wines (think big zins, cabernets, and syrahs) primarily from the Dry Creek area of Sonoma County. The folks at Martin Family are in the midst of designing and building a new facility on Dry Creek Road including a tasting room. For now, you can sample their wines at Locals Tasting Room in Geyserville.
