Santa Rosa Ranks in the Upper Half of Safest Cities

Study Ranks Santa Rosa as the 133rd Safest City out of 371

By

Santa Rosa ranked as the 133rd safest city in the US out of 371, in a report published October 2006.

Morgan Quitno Press, a private research and publishing company specializing in state and city reference books, puts out an annual list of the safest and most dangerous cities.

The rankings are based on U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations' (FBI) statistics for murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft. Morgan Quitno then measures how a specific city stacks up against the national average for each crime category.

Brick, New Jersey was named the safest city, followed by Amherst, NY, Mission Viejo, CA; Newton, MA and Troy, MI. At the opposite end of the scale, St. Louis, Missouri ranked as the nation’s most dangerous city. It was followed by Detroit, MI; Flint; MI; Compton, CA; and Camden NJ.

Several sections of the Morgan Quitno list follow: The Top 25 Safest Cities, the Top 25 Most Dangerous Cities, and a section of the list which includes Santa Rosa (the 25 cities safer than Santa Rosa and the 25 cities that are ranked more dangerous).
