All of Sonoma County has a strict leash law. Dogs must remain on a leash and under control at all times while in the parks. In addition to the leash law, there is also a requirement that owners must clean up after their dogs.
There are 5 dog parks in Santa Rosa which provide an enclosed, fenced area in which dogs can run and play off leash. These are:

½ acre, small and large dog areas. This park also features a swimming pond for dogs, which makes it the best park in the area for hot days and water-loving breeds. - Doyle Park,

½ acre - DeTurk Round Barn Park, 819 Donahue Street
¼ acre, no bathrooms - Northwest Community Park,

- The Perrone Dog Park located at Sonoma Valley Regional Park, 13630 Sonoma Highway is close to Santa Rosa in nearby Glen Ellen. With a 1-acre fenced in area, it is twice the size of any dog park in Santa Rosa. There are also trees and a gazebo for shade, pathways, and a drinking fountain for dogs.
- Ragle Ranch Regional Park located at 500 Ragle Road in Sebastopol, is home to Sonoma Countys newest dog park.

There are 4 parks in Santa Rosa in which you can let your dogs off the leash between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. each morning. Dogs must be supervised and under voice control at all times. These are:
